On July 30, 2020, Smriti Irani took to her IG handle and posted a throwback picture from her modelling days, when she was the cover girl of a magazine. The picture was found by her mother. Sharing her mother's sentiments Smriti wrote, "When your Mom shares one from her stash of your photographs... you cherish not the image but the emotion ... a Mom who keeps every paper cutting, school report, photograph ... I'm sure you have one too, a mother you mean the world to #tbt #mom."

What's more interesting is, it was shared by none other than her BFF, Ekta Kapoor. Ekta Kapoor and Smriti Irani have been friends for more than 18 years and with time, their bond has only become stronger. Their friendship had started from the sets of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which had run for eight-and-a-half years. On June 26, 2020, Ekta Kapoor had taken to her Instagram handle to share a major throwback video of her soul sister, Smriti Irani from her Miss India days. Smriti Irani had participated in Miss India 1998 and Ekta had shared a video of her introduction clip from the same. Along with it, Ekta had penned down an appreciation post for her, mentioning how Smriti ji has struggled hard to be where she is now. 

She had written an appreciation post for her bestie which could be read as "Appreciation Post for my friend Smriti Irani who started off not winning Miss India but went on to become a household name. This is for people who think that success comes easy...it is tough, it is hard but it comes to all those who work hard. Smriti became a household name, today is a minister."
