Sara Ali Khan Reveals Facing Confidence Issues After 'Love Aaj Kal,' Asked Aanand L.Rai To Cast Alia

Sara Ali Khan is one of the most popular actresses in the new generation of Bollywood. Fans admire her fashion sense, candid interviews, and versatile roles. Since her debut in 2018, Sara has had a rollercoaster journey with several ups and downs. The film that brought her the worst criticism was Love Aaj Kal, opposite Kartik Aaryan. In a recent interview with Mid Day, the actress revealed that the failure left her with confidence issues, and she asked filmmaker, Aanand L.Rai to replace her in his film.

Sara asked Aanand L.Rai to cast Alia Bhatt in Atrangi Re

After Love Aaj Kal's failure, Sara was supposed to work on Aanand L.Rai's Atrangi Re. However, the former film's failure and negative criticism of Sara's performance affected her self-esteem. As a result, she asked the filmmaker to cast Alia Bhatt instead of her in the film. Recalling the incident, Sara said:

"I called Aanand R Lai and told him, 'Atrangi Re is a great script. This character is outstanding. Are you sure you don't want to call Alia Bhatt (to do the role instead)?"

Sara took the responsibility for Love Aaj Kal

Love Aaj Kal was the spiritual successor to the 2009 film of the same name. Both the films were directed by Imtiaz Ali, and the one that starred Sara, released amid a lot of hype. However, it tanked at the box office, and Sara calls it a 'mistake,' taking complete responsibility for the failure on her part. But the actress feels it helped her personally to stay grounded after two back-to-back successes. In her words:

"I take full responsibility for the fact that I didn't deliver. Nevertheless, it really helped me. It could have been easy for me to go off-track. After the success of Kedarnath and Simmba, one more box-office success and I could have gone daamadol. You never know. I take full responsibility for the fact that I didn't deliver. Nevertheless, it really helped me. It could have been easy for me to go off-track. After the success of Kedarnath and Simmba, one more box-office success and I could have gone daamadol."
