Ranbir Kapoor Recalls His 'Joota Chupai Rasam', Says, 'Laakho Mein Shuru Hua, Thousands Mein Le Aya'

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt had an intimate wedding at their home. However, the first time, Ranbir shared the details about his 'Joota Chupai' ceremony and how they asked for money in lakhs.

Ranbir Kapoor Recalls His 'Joota Chupai Rasam', Says, 'Laakho Mein Shuru Hua, Thousands Mein Le Aya'

Ranbir Kapoor, along with his mother, Neetu Kapoor, and sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, are the first guests of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. While there were many revelations about the Animal star on the show, Ranbir first talked about joota chupai rasam after his wedding to Alia Bhatt. During one of the segments, Kapil asked Ranbir to confirm if the rumour about Alia's friends and cousin had demanded Rs. 11 crores during joota chupai was true.

Ranbir Kapoor talked about joota chupai rasam and how Alia Bhatt's cousin demanded money in lakhs

For those who don't know, joota chupai is a Hindu ritual, in which the bride's sister and cousins steal the groom's shoes. After the pheras get over, they ask for sagan (money) to return the shoes. During Kapil Sharma's comedy show on Netflix, Ranbir was asked if he had given Alia's cousin money in lakhs in return for his shoes. Ranbir denied it, and Neetu Kapoor added:

"We did give them some cash."

Recalling the moment, Ranbir shared that Alia's sister demanded money in lakhs. However, Ranbir showed off his bargaining skills and brought them down to a couple of thousands, which left everyone laughing out loud. He was quoted as saying:

"I think lakho mein shuru hua tha, thousands mein mai le aaya tha. Aisa kuch hua tha."

This left Archana Puran Singh shocked, and she asked, "Itna kam." Ranbir clarified that his marriage happened at home, and he didn't care about shoes as he would be staying there only. Kapil also recalled his joota chupai ceremony and stated that his wife, Ginni's sister also demanded Rs. 11 lakhs. He revealed: 

"Ginni ki bhene bhi mujhko ko kehti, jiju 11 lakh. Mai kya joote bhi rakho apni behen bhi rakho mai jaa raha hoon."
