Old Video Of Saif Ali Khan Saying 'Can't Name My Son Ram' Goes Viral, Irked User Jokes, 'Khub Kahi!'

Bollywood actor, Saif Ali Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie, Vikram Vedha, along with actor, Hrithik Roshan. He has been working tirelessly to make the film a huge success. However, it looks like all his efforts are going in vain, as one of his old videos has surfaced online and landed him in trouble. While, Saif has not reacted to the same, the netizens are irked with his old statement.

On the personal front, Saif Ali Khan had broken all stereotypes when he had tied the knot with actress, Amrita Singh. The two were blessed with two kids, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. However, later, Saif and Amrita had parted ways. While Amrita remained single, Saif went on to tie the knot for the second time with actress, Kareena Kapoor. Saif and Kareena are proud parents to two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan.

Social media is a treasure trove, which often brings back old memories from the past. In a major turn of events, one of Saif Ali Khan's old videos has gone viral, in which he claimed that he couldn't name his son 'Ram'. Well, there's no doubt that Saif and Kareena's choice to name their sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan, had irked the netizens and hurt their sentiments. While Saif's sons' names still remain a debatable topic among gossipmongers, his viral clip further added fuel to the fire. In the clip, Saif can be heard saying:

“I can’t name my son Alexander or realistically can’t name him Ram. So, I thought why not keep a good Muslim name and hopefully bring up with secular values so that they respect and love each other.”

As soon as Saif Ali Khan’s clip got viral, it spread like wildfire on social media, and it didn't go well with the netizens. They flooded the post's comment section and started posting negative and hate comments on the actor. One user wrote, “Bollywood movies are boycotted these days due to these kinds of statements. Better to google “How do we respect Indian culture?” when your movie is close to its release date #BoycottVikramVedha. However, it's heartbreaking to see that only a part of Saif Ali Khan’s old interview has been used to ignite hatred in the minds of people. You'll be surprised to know that the actor's statement was not controversial as he uttered those words in some other context. Talking about his full statement, Saif Ali Khan can be heard saying:

“I’m aware that there’s a certain amount of Islamophobia in the world today and as Muslims, if we don’t somehow own it then who will? I can’t very well name my son Alexander and realistically can’t name him Ram. So why not a nice Muslim name and bring him up with secular values where we love and respect so that people meeting him say ‘what a nice guy’ and that’s the end of the name.”
