Neetu Kapoor On Battling Depression After Losing Hubby Rishi Kapoor, Shares Heartbreaking Experience

Neetu Kapoor and late Rishi Kapoor's childhood love had brewed during their teenage days back in 1975 when the 'chocolate boy' of Bollywood had fallen head over heels in love with the bubbly actress. And their love story is nothing short of a fairytale. Neetu had been a doting wifey, and she had never left Rishi's side until his soul left his body. In 2020, Rishi Kapoor had left for the heavenly abode after fighting a long battle with leukaemia. With that, something inside Neetu had just died with the passing of her husband.

Now, in a recent media interaction, the veteran actress opened up about facing depression after the demise of her husband. For those who don't know, she is a proud mother of two beautiful children, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor. Her children had always advised her to make a comeback on the silver screens to keep herself distracted from their father's grief. And finally, Neetu's second innings had begun when she had agreed to do a movie, Jug Jugg Jeeyo and to judge a reality show, Dance Deewane Juniors

In a recent interview with News18, Neetu Kapoor got candid about the most challenging phase of her life when the soul of her better half, Rishi Kapoor had left his body and had made her feel devastated. The bubbly actress had been struggling from major depression and sadness until she had decided to keep herself occupied with work. In her words:

"This whole phase of going back to work has helped me get out of depression. Working on Jugjugg Jeeyo has been a cathartic experience. Apart from that I also did two reality shows which helped me come and interact with the audience. I am really enjoying my time."

However, society never spares women from living their lives after the death of their husbands. On the contrary, they taunt, shame and ridicule them until they start following specific standards, which are set by the narrow-minded people. Something similar had happened to Neetu Kapoor when she had decided to make a comeback in movies and relive her professional life. In an interview with Film Companion, Neetu Kapoor had talked about dealing with trolls and had revealed that people had trolled her for celebrating her life after the death of her hubby, late Rishi Kapoor. She had stated:

"I block the ones who troll me because you know thode hote hai beech mein ke 'husband marr gaya, ye enjoy kar rahi hai.' They want to see that crying widow type, there is some section of people but I just block them. I say this is the way I want to be, this is the way I will be, this the way I will heal. Koi log ro ro ke heal karte hai, koi log khush ho ke heal karte hai."

Earlier, in a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Neetu Kapoor had mentioned that after the demise of her husband, late Rishi Kapoor, she had lost all her self-confidence and belief. Then, talking about how Ranbir and Riddhima had convinced her to sign more movies and shows to stay distracted, she had shared:

"Before Jug Jugg Jeeyo my confidence level was zero, my husband had passed away and I was doing a film just on my own. I went to Chandigarh all alone, my confidence was nothing. It is very important to have 'zindadilli', or your life ends. You have to be strong and you have to be busy, that was my whole criteria to start work. My kids told me, aap busy ho jao, you can't sit at home."
