Kartik Aaryan has charmed countless of his fans with his humble nature and grounded personality, even more than his films at times. The actor, who has been ruling the silver screens because of his sheer skills and versatility, has time and again clarified how life hadn’t always been a cakewalk for him. And recently, Kartik narrated an unheard chapter from his life before showbiz, which precisely sums up his rooted and a journey full of hardwork.

Kartik Aaryan discusses his complicated equation with money all his life

In a recent interaction on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Kartik Aaryan retrospected the initial years of his life before stardom. Hailing from a small, humble and middle-class family residing in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Kartik remembered how, for most of his life, he witnessed his parents go through was a continuous cycle of debt and loans. He tagged his family as ‘EMI people’ whose big dreams didn’t really match with their financial reality. Calling it a life full of loans, Kartik explained:

“I have always had a big ‘ladai’ with money. Growing up in Gwalior, we were in debt, because my parents had taken debts for their careers. It wasn’t like we were poor, but we weren’t rich. We were EMI people. In this sort of situation, every expense is calculated. For the longest time, we had more debt than income. Yeh loans waali life rahi hai, doston ke beech udhaari waali life rahi hai.”

Kartik on understanding the necessity of earning money after coming to Mumbai

Moving on, during the same conversation, Kartik Aaryan then talked about his change in life, once he shifted to Mumbai to follow his passion for acting. The actor revealed how he always carried on with the habit of borrowing money from his friends even after he migrated to the business city. However, it was in Mumbai where he understood the need to earn his own money. In his words:

“Even when I came to Mumbai, I’d taken an education loan. For the longest time, I was so accustomed to borrowing money from friends and telling them that I’d return it in a few days. When I came to Mumbai, I knew that I had to earn. I was tired of borrowing money, travelling by train…”

When Kartik Aaryan revealed why he didn’t take any remuneration for one of his films

Earlier, during a conversation with Film Companion, Kartik Aaryan revealed how he ended up skipping to take any remuneration for his film, Shehzada, co-starring Kriti Sanon. While the film was a semi-hit at the box-office, had a hooking storyline and chartbusting numbers, Kartik explained that he decided to let go off the fees since the producer faced a budgetary constraint during the filming schedule. Furthermore, the actor revealed that he had to partially turn producer for the same film.

Kartik once expressed his feelings on his films getting scrapped at the last minute

Previously, during a conversation with NDTV, Kartik Aaryan opened up about facing frequent rejections in the film industry, often at the very last minute. While the film world is indeed quite competitive and dynamic in nature, the actor confessed how he learnt that one shouldn’t talk about their failed films openly. Kartik explained:

“Mere saath aesa bhi hua hai ki jo ek aadh film jo main almost lock hogaya hun aur, before my debut also, lekin it didn't take off. Aur maine pure jahaan mein bata diya tha ki meri film hone wali hai and it didn't take offf. Toh uske baad in fact ek bohut sahi cheeze maine yeh jaani ki kabhi kisiko batana mat.”
