Karisma Kapoor was one of the leading actresses of the 90s. Critics and fans have often admired her acting, style, and grace. After experiencing massive success in Bollywood, the actress took a step back in 2003 after her marriage. She stayed away from the limelight for a long time and sparingly did projects. Recently, the actress featured in the Netflix film, Murder Mubarak and explained her decision to step back during an interview.

Karisma Kapoor didn't want to miss out on the special moments of motherhood

Earlier this year, Karisma Kapoor sat down for an interview with Grazia to promote her film, Murder Mubarak. In the interview, she was asked about her decision to stay away from films for a long time. Karisma stated it was a conscious decision because she had young children. She did not want to miss out on their special moments as a mother. She was quoted as saying:

“I chose to stay away from the limelight- I had young children, and it was important for me as a mother that I didn't want to miss out on those moments. I think that's a choice that each individual needs to make and that's a choice I made.”

Karisma revealed that she was privileged to be able to take a break

Hindi cinema is a fast-paced industry, and new debuts occur every other Friday. So, if a few films of an actor don't perform well at the box office or they take a break, it's easy for them to be forgotten by the industry. However, the Dil Toh Pagal Hai actress said that she felt privileged to get a choice to take a break from movies after embracing motherhood. She added that her life didn't change much after taking up motherhood and it was amazing.

Karisma's kids were excited when she made her digital debut

Karisma Kapoor has two children, a daughter, Samaira Kapur, born in 2005, and a son, Kiaan Raj Kapur, born in 2010. She featured in the web series, Mentalhood, which marked her debut in the OTT world. Between 2001 and 2020, the actress starred in a few films and made some special appearances. Karisma shared that her children have only watched few of her films. But she doesn't force them to watch it. Also, the Zubeidaa actress shared her kid's supportive reaction to her digital debut. In her words:

“They are excited that I am working again. I started working at a very young age. Everyone in my family has been an actor and contributed to this industry. I have grown up with a solid work ethic, and I think that's hopefully gone down to my children as well."

Karisma revealed the moment she decided to be an actor

Karisma hails from the famous 'Kapoor family' of Bollywood. She is the granddaughter of Raj Kapoor and daughter of actor, Randhir Kapoor. She stated that she decided to be an actor at eight. She said:

“At the age of eight or nine, I remember I was at the set of Prem Rog and he was explaining a particular scene. At that moment, I knew I wanted to act just like my family did. Dadaji (Raj Kapoor) told me that as interesting as it looked, it wasn’t easy.”
