The popular actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan attended an event in Kolkata and also addressed some questions from the media. From talking about her process while selecting a film to opening up about the kind of roles she wants to play, Kareena spilt a lot of beans about her professional front during her conversation with the media. However, one question caught everyone’s attention when a journalist asked Kareena about her views on the ongoing ‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend.

In response to the question, Kareena Kapoor Khan explained how she doesn’t agree with the ongoing trend of boycotting Bollywood films. The actress stressed the importance of movies in people’s lives and added that they’re important for entertainment. She even added that everybody needs movies, as they’re one of the prime sources of entertainment and joy. She said:

"I don't agree with it at all. If that happens, how will we entertain, how will you have the joy and happiness in your life, which, I think everybody needs. Cinema and films are promising, which we have always done, which films have always done. Agar films nahi hogi toh entertainment kaisa hoga."

Kareena Kapoor Khan trolled for her reaction to the 'Boycott Bollywood' trend

As soon as Kareena Kapoor Khan’s statement made its way on the internet, a series of people started trolling the actress all over again. The netizens made fun of Kareena for labelling Bollywood movies as a source of entertainment. While some stated that Bollywood isn’t working on their scripts as most of their films are remakes of hit South Indian films, many people hailed OTT as a direct rival to Bollywood. Not only this, some people even reminded Kareena of her old statement in which she told people not to go to theatres if they don’t want to watch Bollywood movies.

This isn’t the first time when Kareena Kapoor Khan is getting trolled for her take on the 'Boycott Bollywood' trend in India. Time and again, we have seen people bombarding the comment section of the actress’ social media handles with comments like ‘Boycott Kareena’. For the unversed, it was after Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise that people started boycotting Bollywood films and celebrities. From boycotting their films to avoiding the products endorsed by them, the campaign shook the entire Hindi film industry to the core.

During that time, it was Kareena Kapoor Khan, who had given a statement in which she had given a reply to people, who were trolling Bollywood for promoting nepotism and making remakes. In a conversation with the media, Kareena had said, “People are also pointing fingers [at celebrities], they are only making these nepotistic stars right? Aap ja rahe ho na film dekhne? Toh mat jao.” The statement irked people, and as a result, Kareena’s highly-anticipated film, Laal Singh Chaddha, opposite Aamir Khan was boycotted and flopped at the box office.
