It was Father’s Day on June 16, 2019, and Karan Johar had taken to Instagram and had posted a throwback picture of himself with his father, Yash Johar. Wishing him a heartfelt Father’s Day, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director had written, “Papa! We have a daughter named after mom and a son named after you ..... you would have pinched their cheeks like you always pinched mine! They call me dada! One of Karan Johar’s last dream project was his multi-starrer, Kalank. He had shared in an interview with the IANS that the film means a lot to him because it was his father’s dream project. He had shared, “Though all our films are special for us, I would say, Kalank is beyond its box office (collection) and beyond its commerce because it was my father's dream that has got fulfilled with the release of the film. After the release of Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003, I shared the story of Kalank with my father. Since my father had knowledge about the subject... it became his dream to make the film.”

It was indeed unfortunate that we had lost Yash Johar in 2004. The mega-producer had died of chest infection. Karan Johar once had revealed the difficult time he underwent after his father’s demise, "I was very emotional after his demise and though I prepared myself, I finally couldn't go on floors to shoot the film. I kept telling the story to everyone, insiders of the Dharma Productions' family. Finally, when I shared the story with Abhishek (director Abhishek Verman), I felt that if he helms the film, the story will be in good hands.”

Not just his father, Yash Johar but Karan Johar is in awe of his mommy, Hiroo Johar too! On March 8, 2018, i.e., International Women’s Day, Karan Johar had shared a heartfelt message wishing to raise Roohi just like her grandmother. He had said, “I was raised by a woman who had a strong mind, an independent mind and a solid soul. She taught me how to live a fearless life along with a strong sense of right and wrong! She also taught me the art of abandon! She made me the man I am, a man who is honoured to be raised by a woman of substance! Roohi my darling I hope I raise you to be just like your grandmother.” (Also Read: Soni Razdan Shares Throwback Pic When She Was 21, Fans Amazed By Uncanny Resemblance With Alia Bhatt)

Karan Johar, now, is himself a daddy to two twins, Yash and Roohi (named after his parents, Yash and Hiroo), whom he had welcomed via surrogacy. In an interview with Pinkvilla, he had reasoned out their names, “It was a given. I always wanted this. I was dying to name my kids after them. Because the three of us are like a solid one unit family. I don't say this in a sappy or emotional way but I say this with all my heart. We're a complete unit. Even when I lost my dad I am completed by his memory. So I thought I needed to take the legacy of that love ahead. I am glad I got the opportunity to do so with my kids. I always said that if I have a boy or a girl I will name both of them after my parents. But if I have two boys or two girls then I won't do because then one of them would feel bad and I had no backup plans to these names. I think I've been very blessed and fortunate that I got these two and named them Yash which is my dad's name and Roohi which has been taken from Hiroo, my mother's name.”
