Jaya Bachchan once lost her cool at Arshad Warsi as he wore 'chaddi baniyan' at the airport, and also scolded him for sharing his honest opinion about a film.

Bollywood actor, Arshad Warsi is popular for his role as 'Circuit' in Sanjay Dutt-starrer, Munna Bhai MBBS. He is also well-known for his comic timing in the Golmaal series. Apart from that, Arshad has worked in many movies, like Hero Hindustani, Hulchul, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya?, Ishiqya, Salaam Namaste, Total Dhamaal, and more. However, not many know that Arshad started his career in Bollywood as a choreographer in Anil Kapoor and Sridevi's 1993 film, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja.

Arshad Warsi recalls travelling in chaddi baniyan for the shoot of his debut film

For the unversed, Arshad Warsi made his acting debut with the film, Tere Mere Sapne in 1996. During a recent interview on Unfiltered by Samdish, Arshad recalled a hilarious anecdote from his early days in Bollywood, which involved Jaya Bachchan. He shared that he had to travel to Hyderabad for the shoot of his debut film and he opted for comfortable clothes for the journey. Arshad said:

“I was new in the film industry and my knowledge was zero. I came from a different world. During my first film, Tere Mere Sapne, we had to go to Hyderabad to shoot and I sat in the flight wearing chaddi and baniyan. Pehle toh vaise he ghoomte the dance-vanse karte the."

Arshad Warsi was schooled by Jaya Bachchan over his dressing sense

To ensure comfort on the flight, Arshad Warsi got dressed in breezy clothes, as during those days, dancers used to wear such clothes. However, his choice of clothing irked Jaya Bachchan. Recalling the veteran actress' disappointment, Arshad shared that the former later sent a message to his team asking him to dress properly. He said:

"When Jaya ji got to know about this, I received a message, ‘Please tell Mr Warsi to dress appropriately while travelling.’”

Arshad Warsi reveals Jaya Bachchan's reaction to his honest opinion 

Arshad Warsi also talked about the 'yes man' culture in Bollywood and revealed that they are not allowed to share their honest opinion about films. He recalled another incident involving Jaya Bachchan when the latter invited him to a film screening. Talking about the same, he said that when the veteran actress asked him how the film was, he called the experience horrible. However, his unfiltered attitude irked Jaya Bachchan, and she asked him to keep his opinion to himself. In his words:

"Once Jaya ji called me for a film. They used to call people to get their opinion. She asked me, ‘Kaisi lagi?’ I responded, ‘Bakwaas'. She took me to the corner and said, ‘Keep your opinion to yourself.’ These are lessons learnt. Yaha pe sach toh bolna hi nahi hai, doesn’t matter how bad the film is."
