Esha Deol Was Against Arranged Marriage And Depending On A Partner In Life, 'I'd Be A Runaway Bride'

Dharmendra and Hema Malini's elder daughter, Esha Deol, tied the knot with businessman, Bharat Takhtani, after some years of dating each other. The duo had a private traditional wedding ceremony on June 29, 2012, at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai. Esha and Bharat welcomed their elder daughter, Radhya, in 2017, and their second one, Miraya, was born in 2019. The couple left everyone shocked after they announced their separation after almost 12 years of marriage.

Esha Deol revealed she would never have an arranged marriage

In an interview with Rediff, while promoting her then-upcoming film, Just Married, in 2007, Esha Deol was asked about the reason that made her agree to take up the role. Responding to the same, the actress said that she knew that she would never have an arranged marriage and would probably run away if she’s forced to do that. However, she added that she admires the people who tie the knot with unknown people to please their elders and said:

"The only reason I did this film is because I know I will never have an arranged marriage. If I am told to do so, I will be a runaway bride! I admire those people who are ready to tie the knot with unknown people and do things to please their elders."

However, in the same interview, when she was asked about her plans to get hitched, Esha revealed that she hadn’t found the right person to settle down with. However, she shared that she wanted to get married because she wanted to have children and said:

"I have not yet found the right man in my life. There are some good-looking ones but not the one for me. At present, I am happy to be single. The day I am ready to share my life, I will get married. Eventually, I know I will get married because I want to have a family. I love kids."
