Ashok Kumar's Daughter, Bharti Jaffrey Passed Away: Her Son-In-Law, Kanwaljit Singh Gets Emotional

The entertainment industry is still mourning the loss of iconic comedian, Raju Srivastava's sudden demise. But the confirmation of the late legendary actor, Ashok Kumar's daughter, Bharti Jaffrey's death has rubbed salt on the wounds of the entire film industry. She was the eldest daughter of Ashok Kumar and shared the same sort of love for cinema and theatre that her father had. Bharti Jaffrey had made her acting debut in the film industry with the movie, Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence, which was released in 2001.

It is truly a piece of heartbreaking news for her fans, friends, and family members, who always adored her for her humble nature, despite her being the daughter of one of the greatest actors of all time, Ashok Kumar. The actress passed away on September 20, 2022, but it was on September 22, 2022, when her family confirmed the news of her demise in the media. The actress passed away due to prolonged illness.

The news of Bharti Jaffrey's sudden demise was confirmed by popular filmmaker, Nandita Das in an interview with ETimes. The director opened up about the kind of equation she had with Bharti and also heaped praises on her. At the end of her statement, Nandita also stated that people shouldn't forget that she was a great actress, who was extremely passionate about polishing her craft. Nandita said:

"Bharti Jaffrey was a vivacious and warm person, and everyone will miss this affection and warmth. Though Anuradha (Patel) and Kanwaljit (Singh) are family friends, Bharti di endeared us to her by her thoughtful gestures. She never forgot to wish me every birthday. Or pick up a souvenir from her trips. I will miss her very much. And not forgetting she was an extremely talented actress."

As soon as the news of Bharti Jaffrey's demise was made public, her daughter, Anuradha Patel's husband and iconic actor, Kanwaljit Singh shared a tribute post for his mother-in-law on his Instagram handle. The doting son-in-law shared some pictures from their memory lane and penned a heartmelting note in the caption of his post. In his teary-eyed caption, Kanwaljit shared that after bringing her home for the final goodbye, she will be taken to the Cherai Crematorium, Chembur Camp. His note can be read as:

"Our beloved Bharat Jaffrey, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Neighbour, Friend and inspiration has departed us today September 20. We will bring her home at 1.30 pm today for her final goodbye at 403 Ashok Kumar Towers, 47 Union Park, Chembur 71, and thereafter cremate her at Cherai Crematorium, Chembur Camp."

For the unversed, Bharti Jaffrey was earlier married to an orthodontist, Dr Veerendra Patel. The couple had welcomed a daughter, whom they had lovingly named Anuradha Patel. However, after some years of happy married life, they had parted ways. After which, Bharti had got married to legendary actor, Hamid Jaffrey.

Bharti Jaffrey will always be in our memories. May her soul rest in peace!
