Ashneer Grover Shares The Secret To Become 'Bada Aadmi', Recalls Persuading Wife Madhuri For Wedding

BharatPe founder, Ashneer Grover became a household name after his appearance on the business reality show, Shark Tank India season 1. Though the businessman is missing from the second season of the show, his fans remember him for his witty and sarcastic nature. Now, in a recent interview, Ashneer talked about some unknown details of his life and revealed how he persuaded his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, to marry him.

Ashneer Grover talks about being an introvert and a 'chemistry lover'

In a candid conversation with Brut India, Ashneer Grover shared that he was a studious kid and would always score good marks in his class. He also revealed that despite being famous, he's an introvert who gets uncomfortable while talking to a large gathering. Mentioning that he was the teacher’s favourite in his school, the businessman revealed that he aced in chemistry, which is why he was selected for IIT. In his words:

“I aced in chemistry, which not many people like. I was selected for IIT because maine chemistry phod diya tha. Maths, quant and Physics thik thak tha.”

Ashneer Grover reveals the mantra for his success

Talking about his career, Ashneer Grover revealed that he worked at Kotak bank for seven years and made some big deals worth crores there. However, when he was told that the company would transfer him to Mumbai, he decided to quit the job as he realised that he would manage to do something big on his own. Sharing that he wanted to get out from the comfort of a salaried job, he revealed that it became the mantra for his success as no one can do something massive by just doing a plush job. He said:

“My first deal was for around Rs 1600-2000 crore. I left the company when I knew they would transfer me to Mumbai. I am a Delhite and didn’t want to leave. I joined Grofers with a friend where I developed the muscle as a founder. After leaving the company, I launched BharatPe in just about 6-8 months. I firmly believe that sirf naukri karke koi bada aadmi nahi ban sakta."

Further in the conversation, Ashneer also opened up about his love for bikes and recalled how he used to travel to his college on his motorbike and created many memories. Revealing his romantic side, Ashneer recalled how he met his wife, Madhuri while preparing for CAT and shared that he instantly fell in love with her and persuaded her to go out with him. However, when Madhuri asked one of her friends about Ashneer's review, she said that he was not a good guy. Stating that he was keen to marry her, Ashneer added:

“Mera product review bura tha. She had asked a friend about me and she said he was just 'ainwe hi'. But I was very persevering as I knew I wanted to marry her.”

Fast forward to today, Ashneer and his wife, Madhuri are living their happy married life with each other. July 3, 2022, marked the 16th wedding anniversary of the beautiful couple, and they jetted off to London to celebrate their special day. To mark the occasion, the doting husband shared a cosy picture with his wife, Madhuri, in which he looked handsome in his casual best, while Madhuri donned a blue-coloured printed dress. Alongside the picture, Ashneer also penned a romantic note in the caption to thank his gorgeous wife for being there for him. 

After resigning from BharatPe, Ashneer Grover made his debut as an author and penned his autobiography, Doglapan: The Hard Truth about Life and Start-Ups.
