Arjun Kanungo Reveals Wife, Carla's Tiring Procedure For Citizenship Has A Link With Their Marriage

Popular singer, Arjun Kanungo and his longtime girlfriend, Carla Dennis tied the knot on August 10, 2022, in Mumbai. For the unversed, Arjun dated Carla, who hails from South Africa, for seven years before finally taking the plunge and stepping into a new phase of their life as ‘Mr and Mrs’. Now, the newlywed singer opened up about the most emotional moment for him during their wedding and also revealed what made him believe in the institution of marriage.

On August 11, 2022, Arjun Kanungo had taken to his IG handle and shared some beautiful pictures with his wife, Carla Dennis from their surreal wedding. At the wedding, Arjun looked handsome in a cream-coloured sherwani paired with a matching turban and a doshala. On the other hand, Carla looked gorgeous in a red lehenga from Sabyasachi Mukherjee's bridal collection. Along with it, he had penned:

"In the presence of our families and our closest friends, Carla and I got married yesterday. My words cannot express how much love we received and how special the day was for us. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Arjun Kanungo bared his heart out at his last-minute wedding with his ladylove, Carla Dennis. He also mentioned that the most emotional scene from his wedding was when he saw Carla for the first time in her wedding ensemble. Arjun, who is not a believer of the institution of marriage, also added that Carla went for the fittings alone, and his eyes had welled up upon watching her for the first time as a bride. Elaborating the same, Kanungo said:

“The wedding was really special. We actually did this at the very last minute. We decided to get married in August in June because most of Carla’s family was flying down from South Africa, Sri Lanka and the UK. They were available on those dates. That’s why we kind of rushed it. The fact that they could make it and be there with us meant a lot to us. She didn’t let me look at the wedding dress before the function. She used to go to the fitting herself… But watching her at the aisle was pretty emotional, and actually pretty much unexplainable. I have not been a big believer of marriage in my life, but watching her walk down the aisle was something special. I started crying. ”

Further, sharing how he started believing in the institution of marriage, Arjun explained that he believed in their relationship and his long-time girlfriend, Carla. And for his then-girlfriend-now-wife, it was a very tiresome process to return to South Africa to get the visa. Thus, Carla also initiated the process of becoming an Indian citizen, and their marriage was a formality for them. Arjun added:

“We have been together for seven years, and have been dreaming about this for the last two years. We had to wait a little, so we were really emotional. Well, I am a believer in our relationship. I think people can have different opinions and still make it work. The key to that is listening to your partner and understanding your partner’s needs. I always felt like marriage was just a formality for us. Carla is not an Indian citizen. So, it is a very tiresome thing to constantly go back to South Africa and get your visa again. She had to do it once a year."

However, in the same conversation, Arjun also talked about his wife, Carla's wish to have a family and kids. At the end of the conversation, Arjun revealed that their court marriage registration would happen on August 29, 2022, and after this, he would go on a honeymoon with his darling wife. He concluded:

“I felt like for practical reasons getting married made sense. We want to have children, so it makes sense for that as well. Carla has always insisted that she wants to be Kanungo. She says that when we have a family, she wants our kids to feel like they’re part of the same family, and be close to everybody. We were in a relationship for so long, now it feels like we’ve been married for a few years. My court marriage registration has to be done on the 29th. Then we go on our honeymoon and. I come back on September 10th or 11th, and then I will resume work.”

For the unversed, the newly-married couple is planning another post-wedding ceremony out of India with their extended family in 2023.
