But when their fans were expecting to hear the wedding bells for their Pavitra Rishta couple, Sushant and Ankita had announced that they had parted ways, leaving everyone shattered. Years later, things became worst when the news of Sushant's unfortunate demise by suicide came and it left everyone including his ex, Ankita, devastated.

Since Sushant Singh Rajput's demise, his friends and family have been posting on social media and remembering the happy moments they had spent with the late actor. SSR's close friend, Vikas Gupta posted a throwback picture with Sushant, Ankita Lonkhande, Pooja Gor and Raj Singh Arora, and penned an emotional note remembering his 'carefree and tension-free' friend. Vikas wrote, "This was the time when I saw him the carefree fun happy lad sushu was. He dint worry about anything. He could leave the number 1 show on Indian television and we could for weeks do nothing and make plans in chai coffee and discuss learning film making plans."

Recalling why Sushant Singh Rajput had said 'no' to YRF film and his wish for working with Parineeti Chopra had gotten fulfilled with Shudh Desi Romance, Vikas Gupta continued, "I remember him saying No to #Aurangzeb because He was offered the other brothers role and i remember he said how will I say no to Yash Raj but he was able to cause that mad girl in the middle of the picture would say you do what makes you happy we will do when you are sure about things and he would grin like in this picture. we were wishing him getting a film with @parineetichopra cause she was fantastic in #ishaqzaade and my narrating him the story of a show that became so huge to him getting #kaipoche and him telling me the story of how he signed PK like lost count types and then signing the film with #parineetichopra #shudhdesiromance and Ankita calling friends home. Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande's Pavitra Rishta co-star, Prarthana Behere, had revealed in a Times Of India interview, how the late actor's ex has reacted to the news. When the reports of Sushant suicide had circulated on their Pavitra Rishta WhatsApp groups, Prarthana had called Ankita and narrating the situation, had said, "The messages started flashing on our Pavitra Rishta Whatsapp group and I saw very late. It took me time to figure out what is happening. So, I called up Ankita and she was crying and I was completely clueless whom should I call now. Then I called Mahesh Shetty, he was also crying and he was going to see him. I asked him if even I should come along because he was our friend yaar. It doesn't matter we were not in touch with each other since the last 5 years but we have spent such a lovely time together. I treated him as my elder brother."

Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande have been the talk of the town for many years and post his demise, his stylist, Leepakshi Yellawadi had spilt some beans on how he had felt indebted to his ex-girlfriend. In an interview with ETimes, Leepakshi revealed how Sushant had felt indebted to Ankita for supporting him during his struggling days. She had said, “When we were talking he told me how indebted he was to his ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. According to him, she supported him very much when they were on television and during their struggling days. He became a big star. This is a real quality in somebody to look back and even if you are not with that person, appreciate them for what they have done for you. Even though their relationship went sour, he had only good things to say about her. I was really fond of him. When I heard the news I was in disbelief and shaking. He had so many more stories to tell me. We all get busy.
