So, in an ideal world, we could fall in love with anyone and anywhere with eventually things falling into place and most importantly without being judged! But in the world, we live, we are often judged for falling in love with someone with age, caste, class, religion differences or if we want to move out of a relationship, we are asked to adjust and for life, surrounded with criticism of the society and even our family. Fortunately, thinking and situations have evolved and are evolving with time and for better! As it is rightly said that there’s always a calm after the storm. That’s exactly what happened with the once madly-in-love couple, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, who had decided to part ways ending their 14 years of married life. Over the years, Saif and Amrita moved on in their respective lives. While Saif had married Kareena Kapoor in 2012, Amrita is happily raising her and Saif’s children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. And everyone has happily come to terms with the ‘modern’ relationships of the family and share a warm camaraderie with one another.

Saif Ali Khan had married Amrita Singh in 1991, when he was 21 and she was 12 years older to him. Saif and Amrita had featured on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, and a video from the same is going viral on social media. Amrita singing, Tum Aa Gaye Ho, Noor Aa Gaya Hai, for her then-husband, Saif, is all about love. On the show, while Amrita had said, “I could never imagine myself being married to a man younger than me. Saif was the only person who I had met in my life who was patient with me. That meant a lot to me.” Saif had stated, “I strongly felt that you don’t meet people very often who on every chemical level do something right for you. I don’t think I am going to find this again, so I might as well hang on to it.” Here’s the video:

 

 

Years later, when Saif Ali Khan had appeared with his daughter, Sara Ali Khan on Koffee With Karan, he had revealed that before his wedding with Kareena Kapoor in 2012, he had written a letter to his ex-wife, Amrita Singh. Elaborating on the same, Saif had recalled, “When I was getting married to Kareena, for some reason before going down, I wrote a note to Amrita and I said, “This is a new chapter starting and we’ve had our history and everything. Something on the lines of good wishes I hope for both of us.” Before sending it to Amrita, Saif had sent the letter to Kareena and had asked for her thoughts. Saif had continued, “I sent it to Kareena and said have a look at this, if it’s okay, I am thinking of sending it across. And she was like that’s really nice. Sara Ali Khan had also reminisced the last dinner she had with her parents, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. Reminiscing the last time, he had met his ex-wife, Amrita, Saif had said, "In Columbia, when we went to drop Sara to the University. We had dinner together in New York." Sara had continued, "It was nice. I was going to college and mom had come to drop me and Abba was also there. Actually, my father and I were having dinner and then we decided to call my mum, and she came. We had a good time. And then they set me up in college together, I remember. And it was actually quite a sight because you were seeing, you know, Amrita Singh, and for those of you who know her, it's a funny sight, like, making my bed and Saif Ali Khan putting the bulb in the lamp. It was really nice and I really cherish that."

Before that, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh had come together for their daughter, Sara Ali Khan’s graduation ceremony and had cheered for her together. Sara had completed her schooling from Dhirubhai Ambani International School and when she had graduated from there, it was her proud parents, Saif and Amrita, who had turned out to be the loudest cheerleaders.
