Bollywood beauty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan once again swooned millions of hearts with her performance in Ponniyin Selvan 2, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. The gorgeousness made sure to spread the aura of her charm among the masses along with other stars of the movie. Undoubtedly, it became a blockbuster hit. However, Aishwarya has time and again worked with the director, Mani Ratnam and proved her mettle in acting. She made her acting debut with the Tamil-language political drama film, Iruvar. Later, she worked in Mani's directorial, Guru and Raavan, and each of them has etched a special place in the hearts of millions.

Talking about Guru and Raavan, the film also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's husband, Abhishek Bachchan. While Guru gave immense popularity to Abhishek, the Hindi version of Raavan, starring him alongside Aishwarya, was a flop. Thus, as Aishwarya's third venture with Mani Ratnam delivered the best at the box office, an old interview of Amitabh Bachchan surfaced on the internet. On the internet, Big B was found blaming the director for Abhishek's Raavan failure for the same and also got hugely trolled.

On May 12, 2023, a Reddit user took to its handle and posted a screenshot from Amitabh Bachchan's old interview blaming Mani Ratnam and his editing team for the failure of his son, Abhishek's Raavan. In Amitabh's opinion, uneven editing ruined the cohesiveness in the narrative of the Hindi version of the filmThe screenshot also featured Mani Ratnam's opinion of Amitabh's say on the Hindi version of the film, making a big flop at the box office. Talking about the film, Raavan, it was made in two versions. While the Hindi one couldn't make it to the hit, the Tamil version starring South Indian actor, Vikram was hugely loved by the fans. Once again, Aishwarya and Vikram's chemistry has been found in Mani Ratnam's much-awaited films, Ponniyin Selvan and Ponniyin Selvan 2. Here also, the two stars are blowing hearts with their consistent performance. In the films, while Vikram plays the role of the great Chola Emperor, Aditya Karaikalan, Aishwarya can be seen in the role of 'Nandini', i.e., Pazhuvoor Queen and wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and 'Mandakini,' i.e., Oomai Rani/ Singala Nachiyar.
