Aman Sehrawat engraved his name in the history books when he had beaten Puerto Rican wrestler, Darian Cruz by a margin of 13-5 to win a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. At a time when most of the Indians were heartbroken after Vinesh Phogat's disqualification from the Paris Olympics, it was Aman's bronze medal that gave them a much-needed breather. After winning the bronze medal, when Aman was asked about the emotion he was experiencing, he clearly admitted that he couldn't believe that he had won an Olympic medal for India.

What's even more impressive is the fact that Aman was the only male wrestler sent by India to the Paris 2024 Olympics, and he stunned everyone by winning a medal in his Olympic debut in the Men's 57 kg freestyle wrestling.

Aman Sehrawat lost 4.6 kgs in just 10 hours for his bronze medal match; here's how he avoided Vinesh Phogat's fate

Aman Sehrawat recorded his weight after the semi-final match against Japan's Rei Higuchi and he was at 61.5 kg, which was 4.5 kg higher than the permissible limit of 57 kg. With just 10 hours in his hand, the young wrestler trained under the esteemed coaches, Virender Dahiya and Jagmander Singh to cut down 4.6 kilos before his bronze medal match.

From mat session, standing wrestling, one-hour hot-bath session, light jogging for some minutes to an hour-long nonstop run and five sessions of a 5-minute sauna bath, Aman didn't sleep the whole night. By 4:30 am on the day of his bronze medal match, Aman had reduced his weight to the mark of 56.9 kg. Despite doing all this training, Aman performed exceptionally well in the match and clinched a bronze medal for India.

Olympic bronze medalist, Aman Sehrawat lost his parents at the age of 11

Aman Sehrawat was born on July 16, 2003, in a small village in Haryana's Birohar. From an early age, Aman developed an interest in wrestling, but he became extra motivated to become a wrestler after two major tragedies in his life. For the uninitiated, at the mere age of 11, Aman's parents passed away.

First, his mother passed away, which broke him and his father. The doting father immediately sent Aman Sehrawat to Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium to become a wrestler. Another reason to send him away from Haryana was that Aman was getting depressed by his mother's demise.

Aman Sehrawat promised his father that he would become a wrestler and win a medal for his country one day. Unfortunately, months after bidding farewell to his parents, Aman's father passed away. At the mere age of 11, he had lost both his parents. But the youngster used all the sorrow and converted it into fuel to motivate himself. He fulfilled his father's dream by becoming a professional wrestler and even exceeded his expectations by winning a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

So far in his career, Aman Sehrawat has won a series of titles and medals. Some of the major ones include the National Championship title in 2021, a gold medal at the Under-23 Asian Championships, a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships, a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games, a gold medal at the Zagreb Open wrestling tournament, and many more.
