Alia Bhatt Comments On Kangana Ranaut, Rangoli Chandel's Attack On Her Acting And Her Parents

What is Bollywood? An entertainment industry, right? Or is it the information industry? Surely, history has taught us that art is the reflection of society but then it’s a personal choice as to what do you call ‘art’ and what according to you is the ‘current state of your society’. If someone sees society through the eyes of millennials, he/she will make films which will appeal to the young people like say Karan Johar, and if another director is inclined towards making noir films on subjects of mafia and gangsters, his sensibility will reflect in his characters, like say Anurag Kashyap. The point here is that Bollywood is an entertainment industry and unless and until what’s on the silver screens isn’t derogatory, crass and tacky, it’s perfectly fine. We always don’t need films with overtly intellectual mastu******* in them, right? So, when Kangana Ranaut dissed Alia Bhatt for her performance in Gully Boy, we wondered if her rage against Alia was genuinely about her acting skills or was it because of the nepotistic privilege that Alia so readily enjoys. If it was about nepotism, we are done with it- the same old arguments over and again without any solution. And if it was about Alia Bhatt’s acting skills, then come on! Since when has acting become an objective-one-person-discourse dissing someone who has given us mass entertainers, made us laugh and cry through her acting in films like Highway and Raazi. It must be mentioned here that we appreciate Kangana Ranaut’s acting as well- after all, 3 National Film Awards is any actress’ dream but all we are trying to say is that in the ‘entertainment’ industry, entertainment should precede anything else.

Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel

The initiated ones know that Kangana Ranaut and his sister, Rangoli Chandel have taken pot-shots not only at Alia Bhatt but also at her parents- Soni Razdan and Mahesh Bhatt. When Alia Bhatt was at the Critics Choice Film Awards 2019 on April 21, 2019, she was asked to comment on the issue and reply to Kangana-Rangoli’s statements. The Kalank actress said, “Dekhiye, agar main aisi hu then my family is 10 times more mature and stronger than I am. Mujhe isme padna hi nahi hai, you know. I just want to be happy, positive, work hard, be a better version of myself every day. Log kya kahe, kya na kahe I should not pay attention to it. Everybody has a right to say what they want to say. Main bas chup rahugi, that’s my stand.”

Kangana Ranaut had earlier taken a dig at Alia Bhatt criticising her acting in Gully Boy. The Mental Hai Kya actress had said, “I am embarrassed...What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ....same snappy muh phat girl... Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media have taken filmy kids love too far. Stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised.” (Also Read: Surveen Chawla And Akshay Thakker Assign Anurag Kashyap As Their Baby Girl, Eva's Godfather)

Kangana Ranaut’s sister, Rangoli Chandel commented on Alia Bhatt and her parents, Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan and questioned their Indian citizenship. Rangoli had tweeted about Alia and her mother Soni Razdan’s British citizenship, as she had written mentioning an article, “These non-Indians who are living off this land, using and abusing its people and its resources, lying about intolerance and spreading hatred, time to think about their agenda and not to get carried away with their provocations.” In another series of tweets, Rangoli claimed that Alia’s father Mahesh Bhatt once threw a slipper at Kangana at the screening of her film Woh Lamhe. She had tweeted, “...later when she went for Woh Lamhe preview to a theatre he threw chappal on her, he didn’t allow her to see her own film, she cried whole night .... and she was just 19 years old.”

Soni Razdan wasn’t going to shut up at this, and she replied to Rangoli’s tweet by writing, “Mahesh Bhatt is the man who has given her a break … she goes on to attack his wife and daughter. Daughter over and over again. What is left to be said then about abusing and hatred I wonder. Apart from character of course. Agenda ? What’s hers … ?”

Soni Razdan

And then Rangoli Chandel's tweet as a reply to Soni Razdan came and it could be read as, “Dear Soni ji, Mahesh Bhatt never gave her a break, Anurag Basu did, Mahesh Bhatt ji works as a creative director in his brothers production house.... please note that he doesn’t own that production house, after Woh Lamhe when Kangana refused to do a film written by him called ‘Dhokha where he wanted her to play a suicide bomber he got so upset that he not only shouted at her in his office..... but later when she went for Woh Lamhe preview to a theatre he threw chappal on her, he didn’t allow her to see her own film, she cried whole night .... and she was just 19years old . @Soni_Razdan.”

Soni Razdan Tweet

Like a sensible person, Soni Razdan didn’t want to carry on with the social media mud-slinging and she finally tweeted, “Urging people to vote against hate has nothing to do with citizenship and everything to do with being a human being. We are all human beings first and citizens of the world we live in. Secularism and democratic principles are values and it’s those that I stand for. #VoteOutHate.” (You May Like: Akshay Kumar's Ex, Shilpa Shetty Praises His Another Ex, Raveena Tandon That She Is Very 'Mast')
