Bacteria feed on our sweat. So, the more you sweat, the more food for bacteria to feed on. And more bacteria means more reasons for body odour and foul smell of the sweat. To avoid this, make sure you shower daily and use an antibacterial soap. If the problem still persists, you can bathe twice a day. Make sure to dry yourself completely, so that there are no damp places for bacteria to multiply.

#2. Replace synthetic clothes with cotton and linen ones

Body Odour

Synthetic garments do not allow your skin to breathe. Which is why the sweat sticks on to your body and exacerbates the already existing body odour. So, it is best to go for clothes made of natural fabrics like cotton and linen that allow your skin to breathe.

As a thumb rule, do not repeat your clothes without washing them after every use. Do not skip this unless you wish to make the existing body odour all the more worse for people around you. Most importantly, change your innerwear every single day, and twice if you feel the need to. Also, be sure to wear washed, dry socks every single day. You can get the insoles of your shoe changed if you think they have worn out and have started to stink.

#4. Use a branded deodorant or make your own perfume for a lasting effect

Use a deodorant from a reputed brand instead of using popular ones for a long-lasting effect or for better lasting effects, you can make your own perfume too! Simply add a few drops of your favourite aroma oil to a cup of cold water and mix it well. Transfer this to a spray bottle and you have a wonderful perfume ready! Popular choices are mint, rose, orange and lavender. These oils have aromas strong enough to ward off the stubborn underarm odour.

#5. Say no to antiperspirants

Body Odour

One of the reasons for body odour is clogged pores and use of antiperspirants lead to this. Not only do they clog the pores, but the strong chemicals present hamper the natural functioning of the sweat glands. Also, most antiperspirants are water-proof, which mean they stick on clothes at times and make it difficult to rinse off. So, if you are trying to ward off excessive perspiration, wear cotton garments, and use anti-bacterial talcum powder on your body for best results.

#6. Eat green veggies and avoid red meats

Also, don’t go overboard with red meats, fast-food, desserts and processed foods, as they are difficult to digest and can lead to toxic build-up. Instead, add more green leafy vegetables, and fruits, as they are rich in antioxidants and help in flushing out toxins. In the end, don’t forget to drink 6-8 glasses of water every day to keep stay hydrated and cleanse your system.
