#1. Jog Falls, Karnataka

The Jog Falls is on river Sharavati and one of the well-known and second highest waterfalls in Asia. It is not the height of waterfall which makes it spectacular, but its width with a girth of 290 meters. It is also known by the name of Gersoppa waterfall by the local people.

This waterfall is just 14 kms away from Sringeri, and it is the ideal place for enjoying weekends for the nearby residents. It is a small fall as compared to the others, but at the same time, it is surrounded by the in-depth beauty. The best time to visit is from September to January. But one should be cautious of the surrounded slippery rocks.

It is one of the beautiful waterfalls with seven-step waterfall. It is named after Thommankuthu, the great hunter who discovered it. The beauty of the waterfall will rejuvenate your body and soul. It is one of the highest waterfalls in southern India. It is also known as Matsya Tirtha, and it became popular in the year 1941 when people started their research for establishing hydroelectric power plant here. People are not allowed to visit in the vicinity of waterfalls, but one can enjoy trolley rides.

Mizoram is the store house of natural beauty, and this waterfall is among the highest fall in Mizoram. It is two-tiered waterfall with a height of 751 feet. The best time to visit it is during monsoon when the flow of water reaches to the maximum. It is surrounded by green forest away from our noisy daily routine life.
